On March 13, New Times Shipbuilding held a signing and delivery ceremony for a 50,000 DWT Type II chemical tanker; the vessel will be officially delivered to the Singaporean shipowner EPS for operation.

According to reports, this vessel is the final vessel in a series of 50,000 DWT chemical tankers custom-built for the Singapore-based shipowner EPS. It has a deadweight tonnage of 49,450 MT and is classified by ABS.
As the first vessel at New Times Shipbuilding to be fitted with sails, the vessel is equipped with three eSAIL® suction sails manufactured by the Spanish company BOUND 4 BLUE. Each unit stands 25 meters tall, measures 4.5 meters in width, and weighs 45 tons. The system generates powerful auxiliary thrust by using fans to draw in air; it is projected to achieve fuel savings of 10% to 30%, thereby effectively reducing carbon emissions.

To ensure the smooth installation of the sails, multiple departments at New Times Shipbuilding—including the Ship Research Institute and the Outfitting Department—conducted advance research and worked closely together to overcome numerous challenges, such as welding the flange bases and hoisting the sails, thereby ensuring both installation quality and adherence to the schedule. This delivery not only marks a continuation of the strong partnership between New Times Shipbuilding and EPS but also represents the company’s proactive exploration of a transition toward green shipbuilding.
