On February 6, Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research institute (SMDERI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), and CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding signed a contract for 35 ship sets of open-loop desulfurization systems. This marks a further deepening of cooperation between the two parties in the field of marine environmental protection equipment.

Beihai Shipbuilding is one of the leading green and intelligent shipbuilders in China. SMDERI, as a major domestic supplier of marine environmental protection equipment, has developed a comprehensive solution system covering the entire marine environmental protection chain, including desulfurization, denitrification, decarbonization, new fuel supply, shaft power generation, and intelligent energy efficiency management. This batch of orders represents another significant achievement in the long-term, in-depth cooperation between the two companies in the field of green ship technology.
According to SMDERI, the company’s cumulative orders for marine desulfurization systems have now surpassed 900 ship sets, further solidifying its leading position in the global marine exhaust gas treatment sector.
SMDERI, founded in 1963, be affiliated to CSIC. SMDERI is the only state research institute on marine diesel engine in China.
