Recently, Rainbow Offshore (ROC), a subsidiary of Rainbow Group has secured an order for six 4,500m³ Live Fish Carriers from a renowned European owner, which includes the optional vessels. The successful award of this order not only strengthens its strategic partnership with the customer, but also manifests the company’s robust strength in the field of highend offshore.
Livefish transportation represents a key development track for modernday global offshore engineering and marine fisheries. Vessels of this type impose stringent requirements on fish welfare, operational safety, transport efficiency and ecoenvironmental protection. Incorporating advanced European fisheryoperation philosophies and drawing upon Rainbow offshore proven expertise in constructing premium offshore industry, this project aims to deliver new generation, highstandard livefish carriers at the forefront of the industry.
The Live Fish Carriers under this order measure 87.10m in length overall, 20.60m in breadth, with a 4,500m³ live fish tank capacity. Classed by DNV, they are designed by a renowned European design company and equipped with advanced live fish transport and handling systems. Featuring a 3,000m³ ultra-large water circulation temperature control system with full redundancy on all critical components, the vessels ensure a stable living environment for the fish throughout the entire journey. The 600mm large-diameter loading/unloading piping system achieves an installation precision within 1mm, ranking among the top worldwide, which minimizes fish loss during loading and unloading and maximizes fish welfare. Additionally, the integration of reverse osmosis freshwater generators enables an eco-friendly high-temperature freshwater delousing capability—a breakthrough innovation that aligns perfectly with Europe’s rigorous ecological standards.
The newly signed next generation livefish carrier integrates technologies spanning offshore engineering, aquaculture, water treatment and aquaticanimal welfare. It greatly addresses the pain points of conventional livefish vessels, such as functional constraints, ecological shortcomings and seafood quality control defects. As premium core level equipment in the marineeconomic industrial chain, the vessel will push the construction technology for livefish carriers to brandnew heights and supply robust momentum for the global “bluegranary” initiative.
