X-Press Feeder Takes Delivery of Sixth 1,250 TEU Methanol Dual-Fuel Container Ship

Recently, China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding successfully delivered the sixth 1,250 TEU methanol dual-fuel open-top container ship built for X-Press Feeder, a globally renowned liner operator.

This vessel type was developed and designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), and constructed by Huangpu Wenchong. With an overall length of approximately 148 meters and a beam of about 27.2 meters, it is equipped with an advanced methanol dual-fuel propulsion system.

As a key product actively responding to the global shipping industry’s decarbonization trend and implementing green development strategies, this vessel design adheres to principles of efficiency, environmental protection, and economy. Capable of utilizing clean green methanol fuel, it significantly reduces emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and carbon dioxide (CO2), meeting the latest environmental regulations set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The open-top design further optimizes cargo loading flexibility and operational efficiency.

It is understood that the contract for this project was officially signed in May 2023, marking the beginning of Huangpu Wenchong’s journey to build a new generation of green ships for X-press in batches. The first vessel was delivered in August 2025, laying a solid foundation for the smooth construction of the series of ships. Subsequently, Huangpu Wenchong, with its mature experience in mass production and meticulous project management, achieved continuous and efficient delivery of subsequent vessels.

With the delivery of the sixth vessel, X-press’s fleet of six ships in this series is now fully operational, significantly enhancing its service capacity and environmental competitiveness on regional routes.

The delivery of this series of vessels marks a new milestone in the collaboration between Huangpu Wenchong and X-Press Feeder, and underscores the company’s leading capabilities in the design and construction of environmentally friendly container ships.
