GTT Inks Deal with HD KSOE to Design LNG Cargo Tanks for Four 200,000 m³ Carriers

On February 2, French company GTT announced via its official website that it has signed a supply contract with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) to provide liquid cargo tank design for four new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

The new vessels will be constructed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, each featuring a cargo capacity of 200,000 cubic meters and equipped with GTT’s proprietary Mark III Flex+ membrane containment system. Delivery is scheduled between the third quarter of 2028 and the first quarter of 2029.

It is understood that HD KSOE announced on January 6 that it had received order for the aforementioned four LNG carriers. The order was placed by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Norwegian shipowner On February 2, French company GTT announced via its official website that it has signed a supply contract with HD KSOE to provide liquid cargo tank design for four new LNG carriers.

The vessels are 200,000 m³ class, measuring 294.8 meters in length, 48.9 meters in width, and 26.7 meters in height. With a larger cargo capacity than conventional 174,000 m³ LNG carriers, they can transport more cargo in a single voyage. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as high-efficiency shaft generators and LNG reliquefaction systems, these vessels maximize operational efficiency. For shipowners, this vessel type significantly reduces unit transportation costs and is hailed as a “high-efficiency” ship.

As of February 2, GTT has publicly announced contracts for the design of liquid cargo tanks for 20 LNG carriers this year, with Hanwha Ocean, Samsung Heavy Industries, and HD KSOE securing orders for 9, 5, and 6 vessels respectively.
