On January 30, SITC International Holdings Co., Ltd. (SITC International) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SITC Shipping, exercised options under two shipbuilding contracts with Huanghai Shipbuilding to place additional orders for two 2,700 TEU container vessels. The maximum total consideration for these orders amounts to US$76.36 million (approximately RMB 530 million).

According to the announcement, the two vessels ordered under this contract are covered by the 7th (vessel number HCY-415) and 8th (vessel number HCY-416) shipbuilding contracts, with delivery expected by January 31, 2029, and March 31, 2029, respectively. The unit price per vessel is US$38.18 million.
The new orders mark a continuation of SITC International’s strategy to expand its owned container vessel fleet. As early as August 2, 2025, SITC Shipping signed a shipbuilding contract with Huanghai Shipbuilding for four 2,700 TEU container vessels, along with corresponding options, totaling US$153 million. On October 31, 2025, SITC Shipping announced the exercise of options for the fifth and sixth vessels, with delivery expected by September and November 2028, respectively.
SITC International stated that as a leading shipping and logistics enterprise in Asia, this fleet expansion aims to address the growth in operational demands.
This latest order for two container vessels marks the first public order secured by Huanghai Shipbuilding in 2026.
According to official records, Huanghai Shipbuilding was established in 1944. Spanning an area of 930,000 square meters, it can repair and build high-tech, high-value-added vessels under 100,000 gross tons, with a construction capacity of 800,000 deadweight tons. The shipyard has delivered 27 ro-pax vessels of various types, over 100 multi-purpose vessels, and has secured orders for nearly 70 1,800 TEU container vessels.
