Recently, the first 9800 DWT new-energy bulk carrier, built by Shandong Land & Sea Equipment Group Co., Ltd., was successfully launched. Simultaneously, another vessel of the same series in the dry dock underwent a “partial-vessel float-out” for the first time—a milestone that significantly enhances the shipyard’s dry dock utilization and effectively shortens the project’s production cycle.

This project was custom-built by the offshore engineering division of Shandong Land & Sea Equipment Group for the Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group. Measuring 109.8 meters in length, 26.8 meters in breadth, and 7.2 meters in depth, with a design draft of 4.2 meters. These vessels serve as a key component of the Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group’s “green transport capacity” initiative. The fleet incorporates design principles centered on sustainability, standardization, safety, and intelligence. Each vessel utilizes a dual-propulsion system—combining lithium batteries with conventional fuel—and is equipped with an unmanned engine room (AUT-0 notation), a lithium-battery-pack jettison system, and a ship-to-shore information system. These next-generation vessels represent an efficient, eco-friendly solution for integrated river-sea transport.
Since the beginning of this year, the offshore engineering division of Shandong Land & Sea Equipment Group has secured orders for 18 new vessels, with a total contract value exceeding 2.8 billion yuan. This includes 15 multi-purpose vessels of various types for European clients, with production schedules now extending through 2030.
