Rock Shipbuilding Secures Hartman Seatrade Contract for Hartman 500-designed Eco-friendly Heavy-lift Vessel

Dutch shipowner Hartman Seatrade announced it has signed a contract with Dutch shipbuilder Rock Shipbuilding for the construction of a new heavy-lift vessel.

The new vessel adopts the Hartman 500 design, featuring upgrades in operational capability, efficiency and sustainability. With a deadweight of 4,600 tons and a maximum lifting capacity of 500 tons, it is equipped with a Wärtsilä 31 four-stroke engine and achieves a maximum speed of 19.5 knots.

Additionally, in battery power mode, the new vessel can achieve zero emissions while underway at speeds up to 11 knots. Port operations—including crane operations—will also be zero-emission through full shore power connection.

According to its official website, Hartman Seatrade is a shipping company headquartered in the fishing port of Urk, Netherlands. It specializes in non-containerized project cargo, heavy-lift cargo, offshore wind farm components, and dry bulk transportation, currently owning and operating a diversified fleet.
