On January 6, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard formally delivered two 84,500 DWT dry bulk carriers, the “CSPC LIBRA” and “CSPC SCORPIO”, to CITIC Financial Leasing.

As a premium vessel type designed to meet diverse cargo transportation needs, this vessel combines specialized features with comprehensive advantages in both design and construction. With an overall length of 225 meters, a beam of 36 meters, a depth of 21.05 meters, and a design draft of 10 meters, the vessel features large-opening box-type cargo holds equipped with embedded box feet and heavy-duty back-loaded hatch covers. Its construction precision requirements and control challenges surpass those of conventional container ships.
This vessel can flexibly carry various types of cargo, including pulp, containers, and bulk cargo, and can transport 3,625 containers when fully loaded. Adhering to the core design principles of environmental protection and energy efficiency, the vessel is equipped with an advanced power system, desulfurization system, main engine SCR system, and high-voltage shore power system. While significantly reducing energy consumption and pollutant emissions, it simultaneously improves navigation efficiency and maritime stability, representing a significant achievement for CSSC Chengxi Shipyard in the field of green shipbuilding.
During shipbuilding, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard focused on critical cycle control and quality enhancement, vigorously implemented lean management, actively promoted innovative applications, and continuously refined its production planning system for series vessels. The critical cycle for this delivered vessel was reduced by 20% compared to the first vessel, achieving a leading domestic construction standard for similar vessels. Its exceptional product quality and professional team services have earned repeated high praise from the shipowner.
On January 7, the 82,600 DWT bulk carrier OKEANIS—constructed by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard for Greece’s NEDA Shipping—was successfully delivered and handed over, before setting sail shortly thereafter.

The “OKEANIS” is the third new vessel delivered by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard in 2026. As a flagship vessel of CSSC Chengxi Shipyard’s independently developed “Blue Whale” series of bulk carriers, its economic efficiency, environmental performance, and safety all reach internationally leading levels. During the the construction period, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard continuously optimized key construction technologies, steadily improving construction efficiency, earning high praise from the shipowner and leading to expectations of future collaboration.
