SUMEC to Build Two Flagship Crown 63 Bulk Carriers in Tri-Party Charter Deal

On December 25, the Shipbuilding Company affiliated to SUMEC Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as SUMEC) held a cooperation signing ceremony with ICBC Leasing and Minmetals Logistics Group, at which the three parties jointly signed contracts for the construction and bareboat charter of two Crown 63 bulk carriers.

This collaboration is not only a powerful alliance among the three parties based on market demand, but also reflects the profound sense of responsibility of state-owned enterprises. The project utilizes cross-border RMB settlement, actively responding to the national strategic direction of steadily promoting the internationalization of the RMB.

The three parties will actively integrate their core capabilities in advanced shipbuilding, professional financial services, and efficient global logistics. By building two modern, green, and efficient bulk carriers, they will jointly strive to ensure the safe transportation of important national strategic materials and promote the self-reliance and strength of high-end manufacturing.

It is understood that the Crown 63 bulk carrier 3.0 version has an overall length of 199.99 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, and a depth of 18.80 meters. It features fully independent intellectual property rights and stands as the flagship product of New Dayang Shipyard.

This marks the second newbuilding contract announced by SUMEC this week. On December 23, SUMEC signed an agreement with Jinjiang Shipping and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shanghai Haihua Shipping in Shanghai for the construction of two 1,100 TEU container vessels.

This 1,100-TEU energy-efficient container ship has an overall length of 147.90 meters, a beam of 23.25 meters, a design draft of 7.30 meters, and a cargo capacity of 1,182 TEUs, including 145 FEU of refrigerated container capacity.
