Hengli Heavy Industries Completes Gantry Crane Upgrade, Boosting Shipbuilding Capacity with Orders Through 2029

On October 31, the final 600-ton gantry crane for the Hengli Heavy Industries, constructed by Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC), was successfully upgraded. This marks the completion of the upgrading project for all six gantry cranes.

It is understood that the gantry crane project undertaken by ZPMC for Hengli Heavy Industries consists of 6 units, including 4 units of 2000-ton gantry cranes and 2 units of 600-ton gantry cranes. With a track span of 188 meters, the lifting height reaches 80 meters above the track and 15 meters below the track. It is equipped with multiple functions such as single lifting, double-hook linkage of the upper trolley, triple-hook linkage of the upper and lower trolleys, and segmented air turning.

The six newly constructed large gantry cranes at Hengli Heavy Industries will significantly boost its production capacity. According to Hengli Heavy Industries, the shipyard has already started construction on over 100 vessels, with an order backlog extending to 2029.

Recently, *ST Songfa released its third-quarter report. According to the report, its core asset Hengli Heavy Industries delivered outstanding performance, achieving operating revenue of RMB 11.653 billion (approximately US$1.637 billion) and net profit of RMB 1.355 billion (approximately US$190 million) in the first three quarters. This marks the early fulfillment of its annual performance commitment of RMB 1.127 billion (approximately US$158 million) by one quarter.

Hengli Heavy Industries’ Phase I and Phase II facilities are named the “Ocean Factory” and “Future Factory,” respectively. With the commissioning of both phases, Hengli Heavy Industries’ world-class green shipbuilding system will continue to mature, and production capacity is expected to steadily increase.

Upon full production, Hengli Heavy Industries will achieve an annual steel plate processing capacity of 2.3 million tons, becoming the world’s largest single-site shipbuilding enterprise with the most comprehensive supporting facilities.
