Recently, British/Australian tour operator Scenic Group released design details of its new luxury cruise ship, which is scheduled to begin operation in 2028.

Designed and built by Scenic’s shipbuilding division, MKM Yachts, the ship, named Scenic Ikon, is currently under construction, with construction commencing in February 2025 and keel laying completed in May. Delivery of the ship is scheduled for the end of 2027, followed by final testing and commissioning.
The “Scenic Ikon” can accommodate up to 270 passengers featureing a reinforced hull that meets the Polar Code Level 6 standard and Ice Class 1A Super Certification and is designed for both polar and warm-water environments. It can carry two Airbus helicopters, a custom Triton manned submersible, a rubber expedition boat, and a Fastsmer shuttle boat. It is equipped with 15 dining venues, lounges and a two-story spa.
Scenic stated that the cruise ship is expected to launch its maiden voyage from Venice in April 2028, with the maiden voyage continuing until March 2029, covering 110 ports, 21 countries, and 26 destinations. The itinerary will span the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea, Egypt, the Cape Verde Islands, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, and the Chilean fjords.
