Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding Delivers Third 36,000 cbm Dual-Fuel Ethylene Carrier to German Owner

On October 24, Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, delivered the third 36,000 cubic meter dual-fuel liquefied ethylene carrier, GASCHEM DOLPHIN, built for a German shipowner. The vessel commenced its maiden voyage.

The GASCHEM DOLPHIN successfully completed sea trials on September 30, 2025, with all performance metrics exceeding design parameters. Building upon the superior performance of its predecessor series, this vessel further optimizes overall layout and energy efficiency design. The vessel has a compact structure and strong port adaptability, incorporating three large triple-ear C-type cargo tanks to maximize cargo hold utilization, increasing loading capacity by approximately 12%.

The combination of high-efficiency propellers and fully suspended twisted rudders enhances propulsion efficiency. Paired with a bulbous bow and optimized deck aerodynamic design, this configuration achieves energy savings and reduced consumption. The liquid cargo system supports simultaneous cooling, reliquefaction, and vapor recovery for dual-class cargoes. Equipped with variable-frequency deep-well pumps and insulation systems, it ensures stable operation at ultra-low temperatures of -104°C. The vessel’s compartmentalized fire protection system and high-power shaft generator further enhance navigational safety and green energy efficiency.

On October 21, Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding held a grand naming ceremony for the vessel. Godmother Ms. Yuriko Geshi christened the vessel “GASCHEM DOLPHIN”. That morning, both parties signed the delivery documents for the “GASCHEM DOLPHIN”, successfully concluding the second batch of cooperative projects with the shipowner.
