On August 30, Zhoushan Xinqi Heavy Industry commenced sea trials for the JXQ0011, the first vessel in a series of 13,800 DWT duplex stainless steel chemical/product oil tankers built for Dongsheng Shipping and Island Holdings. Over the following three days, the vessel essentially completed all scheduled test items, with every performance indicator meeting or exceeding expectations.
As the first vessel in its series, it features an overall length of 129.9 meters, a beam of 22 meters, a depth of 11.8 meters, and a structural draft of 8.8 meters. The entire series is classed by DNV.
The vessel features an innovative design comprising 20 liquid cargo tanks arranged in an alternating large-and-small configuration, all constructed from 2205 duplex stainless steel. Each tank is equipped with an independent FRAMO deep-well pump and dedicated piping system, enabling the transport of IMO Type I, II, and III chemicals as well as refined petroleum products. The vessel meets high technical standards and involves complex system commissioning; the successful completion of sea trials once again demonstrates the company’s capabilities in construction, commissioning, and quality management.
Zhoushan Xinqi Heavy Industry reported that, although the vessel’s sea trial took place one month later than originally scheduled, the company overcame numerous adverse factors and successfully resolved a series of technical challenges—such as the assembly and welding of duplex stainless steel cargo tanks and the commissioning of complex piping systems, ultimately achieving complete success.
