Golden Energy Strengthens Fleet with Another Suezmax Order from DH Shipbuilding

On October 1, DH Shipbuilding announced the signing of a contract with an Oceania-based shipowner for the construction of one 157,000 DWT Suezmax tanker, valued at approximately US$85 million.

The new vessel incorporates green technology compliant with the latest environmental requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and is scheduled for delivery in October 2027. According to shipbroking and market sources, the order was placed by Golden Energy of Greece, controlled by the Restis family.

The aforementioned order marks not the first collaboration between DH Shipbuilding and Golden Energy. Since 2023, the two parties have jointly constructed four Suezmax tankers, with the first two vessels already joining Golden Energy’s fleet and the third scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026. Including the newbuild, Golden Energy currently operates a fleet of 12 tankers.

Recently, DH Shipbuilding has demonstrated strong performance in the Suezmax tanker sector. On September 22, the shipbuilder announced a single order for 6+4 new vessels. The confirmed 6 vessels have a total value of approximately US$510 million, with an average construction cost of about $86 million each, scheduled for delivery starting July 2027.

Data shows that DH Shipbuilding primarily constructs medium-sized vessels such as Capesize bulk carriers, Newcastlemax bulk carriers, Aframax tankers, and product tankers. The company officially listed on the Korea Exchange on August 1.
