World’s First CCS-Classed 78,900 cbm LNG Carrier Launched by Jiangsu Yixiang Shipbuilding

Recently, Jiangsu Yixiang Shipbuilding successfully launched the LNG carrier “Pinghu”. This vessel also marks the largest LNG carrier ever constructed in the history of shipbuilding along the Yangtze River in Yangzhou.

The “Pinghu” vessel combines scale and technological advancement in its core parameters and technical specifications. With an overall length of 229.8 meters, a beam of 38.0 meters, and a cargo capacity of 78,900 cubic meters, it features twin Type-C independent tanks. Designed for a temperature of -163°C and a steam pressure of 3.85 bar, it has a full load draft of 8.50 meters and a service speed of 17.0 knots.

Equipped with dual-fuel main engines rated at 14,310 kW, it is certified for unrestricted navigation. This vessel stands as the world’s first 78,900-cubic-meter LNG carrier to receive classification from the China Classification Society.
