CIMC SOE Begins Construction on 20,000m³ LNG Bunkering Vessel for Somtralux

On September 23, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) held a groundbreaking ceremony at its West Zone Manufacturing Department workshop for the 20,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessel (Hull No.: S1129) ordered by Somtralux SA.

This vessel represents a globally mainstream large-scale LNG bunkering vessel design, with core configurations emphasizing green and efficient characteristics. The propulsion system features WINGD dual-fuel 5X52DF main engines and an intelligent exhaust gas recirculation (iCER) system, further reducing methane slip and nitrogen oxide emissions while achieving an additional 2% to 3% reduction in fuel and gas consumption. The propulsion system employs a combination of CPP (Controllable Pitch Propeller), stern thrusters, and bow thrusters, ensuring precise bunkering operations in complex sea conditions.

Additionally, the vessel is equipped with a high-voltage shore power interface, enabling zero-carbon emissions during port calls. With its all-weather operational capability, it can flexibly meet the bunkering needs of various ports and vessel types, further solidifying CIMC SOE’s competitive edge in the high-end LNG transportation equipment sector.

CIMC SOE said that the successful holding of this groundbreaking ceremony laid the foundation for subsequent critical phases such as hull construction and system integration.
