Greek bulk carrier owner Diana Shipping announced that it has entered into an agreement with a non-affiliated third party to sell its 2016-built Ultramax bulk carrier m/v DSI Drammen. The transaction price is approximately $26.86 million (excluding commission), with delivery to the buyer scheduled no later than October 31, 2025.
The m/v DSI Drammen is held through a limited partnership, with Diana Shipping’s wholly owned subsidiary holding a 25% interest and the remaining 75% held by the Norwegian company Ecobulk.
Currently, Diana Shipping owns a fleet of 36 dry bulk carriers, including 4 Newcastlemax bulk carriers, 8 Capesize bulk carriers, 4 Post-Panamax bulk carriers, 6 Kamsarmax bulk carriers, 5 Panamax bulk carriers and 9 Ultramax bulk carriers, and expects to receive two new methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax bulk carriers in the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028.
Following the sale of the “DSI Drammen,” Diana Shipping’s fleet has a total carrying capacity of approximately 4.1 million deadweight tons, with a weighted average fleet age of 11.82 years.
Notably, Diana Shipping announced in March this year that it is entering the natural gas transportation sector by ordering 2+2 7,500-cubic-meter semi-refrigerated liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers through a newly established joint venture. The first two vessels are scheduled for delivery in the first and fourth quarters of 2027. Diana Shipping holds an 80% stake in the joint venture.
This investment in gas carriers marks Diana Shipping’s second diversification initiative since establishing the Windward Offshore joint venture in 2023. Windward Offshore is responsible for owning and operating commissioning support vessels (CSOVs) for offshore wind projects, and has currently placed orders for four CSOVs with Norway’s Vard shipyard, part of the Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri.
