Recently, CSSC Power (Group) Corporation Ltd. (CPGC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), successfully completed bench testing of its independently developed CPGC-8ML320DF dual-fuel engine and delivered it to the customer. This marks another significant achievement for CPGC in the field of self-branded engines.
This engine offers the following four key advantages:
- It adopts high-pressure common rail micro-injection ignition technology, delivering a single-cylinder power output of 435 kW and a thermal efficiency exceeding 48.5% in gas mode, demonstrating significant energy efficiency benefits.
- Equipped with an ECU control system, it enables fully automatic and precise adjustment of air-fuel ratio, in-cylinder combustion pressure, and ignition timing, supporting independent cylinder control, which greatly enhances the engine’s intelligence level and operational consistency.
- In terms of environmental protection, nitrogen oxide emissions in gas mode are reduced by approximately 80% compared with traditional diesel engines, directly meeting IMO Tier III emission standards and showcasing outstanding green and low-carbon performance.
- At the same time, the engine integrates multiple active safety protection mechanisms, conducting real-time monitoring of key parameters such as cylinder pressure, gas leakage, knock, crankcase oil mist concentration, and main bearing temperature. It is also equipped with intake and exhaust system safety monitoring and inert gas purging functions, ensuring comprehensive operational safety.
This series of engines features configurations ranging from 6 to 9 cylinders, offering versatile applications for power generation units in large LNG carriers and tankers, as well as main engines for bulk carriers, refrigerated cargo ships, and chemical tankers in the 6,000–18,000-ton class. It represents a new generation of green power equipment with outstanding comprehensive performance.
The successful delivery of this first prototype not only demonstrates CPGC’s independent R&D capabilities in dual-fuel engine technology but also lays a solid foundation for the market promotion and large-scale application of subsequent series products.
