On September 1, Shandong Xinneng Shipbuilding and Jining Tianhe Dahuai Supply Chain Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony to formally finalize the construction contract for five 90-meter LNG-powered container ships.
The five ships signed this time are the first batch of orders placed under the letter of intent for 29 ships previously reached by the two parties. This marks that the cooperation between the two companies in the field of green inland shipping has successfully entered the stage of substantive progress, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of subsequent batch cooperation.
These five 90-meter LNG-powered ships represent Xinneng Shipbuilding’s flagship products. With an overall length of 90 meters, beam of 16.56 meters, and depth of 5.4 meters, these ships carry a deadweight of nearly 5,000 tons. Equipped with 30-cubic-meter LNG fuel tanks, they boast a range of 2,000 kilometers—sufficient for round trips along the entire Beijing-Hangzhou Canal without refueling. This precisely meets the demands of long-distance inland waterway freight operations.
In terms of environmental sustainability and operational efficiency, the ship offers significant advantages. Compared to traditional fuel-powered ships, it reduces pollutant emissions by over 90% and lowers carbon emissions by 15%, significantly minimizing its impact on inland waterway ecosystems.
At the same time, through the optimized streamlined design of the hull, the ship’s navigation resistance is reduced by 6%, and the intelligent power control system further achieves comprehensive energy saving of 3%, highlighting the advantages of green environmental protection and operational efficiency.
Next, Xinneng Shipbuilding will leverage its professional technical team, advanced manufacturing processes, and production capacity advantages to rigorously advance contract fulfillment with high standards, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of these five ships according to schedule milestones.
Moving forward, the two sides will steadily advance the negotiation and implementation of the remaining 24 ships based on the initial letter of intent for the construction of 29 ships, and continue to inject strong momentum into the low-carbon transformation of China’s low-carbon transformation of inland waterway shipping and the high-quality development of the water transport industry.
