MSC’s LNG-Powered Fleet Expands as Changhong International Starts 2 Newbuilds and Delivers Mega Containership 74 Days Ahead

On the morning of August 18, Changhong International successfully kicked off the construction of the fifth and sixth 10,300-TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships (CHB2041/CHB2042) for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) in the smart workshop.


The project consists of a total of 10 vessels, designed by CIMC Ocean Engineering Design & Research Institute. Each vessel has an overall length of 299.95 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, a depth of 25.0 meters, a structural draft of 17.5 meters, a designed speed of 20 knots, and is classified by Lloyd’s Register (LR).

On the same afternoon, Changhong International successfully signed the delivery contract for the fourth 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship (CHB2030) built for MSC via video link, 74 days ahead of the contract delivery date.

The series of vessels has a total length of 335 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, a draft of 25 meters, a design speed of 20 knots, and is classified by DNV.
