On August 14th, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), in conjunction with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), delivered the second 8,600 CEU dual-fuel pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) built for South Korea’s H-LINE Shipping.
The 8,600 CEU dual-fuel PCTC is another significant achievement of GSI in implementing green development and promoting the transformation and upgrading of the shipbuilding industry. The vessel has an overall length of 200 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a designed draft of 9.2 meters, a designed speed of 19 knots, and features 14 car decks.
To meet the loading needs of different cargoes such as engineering vehicles and special equipment, the PCTC is also designed with 5 liftable decks. As an “expanded and upgraded version” of the original 7,000 CEU dual-fuel car carrier, it can load 1,600 more vehicles While maintaining the same length and width, making its construction more challenging.
The PCTC is equipped with an advanced intelligent ship system that enables intelligent management of the ship’s navigation, engine room, cargo, and other systems, effectively improving operational efficiency and safety. Additionally, the PCTC incorporates multiple energy-saving and emissions-reduction technologies, such as optimized hull design and main engine exhaust heat recovery systems, further reducing energy consumption and emissions. Furthermore, the PCTC utilizes an LNG/fuel dual-fuel propulsion system, meeting the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emissions standards, and features environmental friendliness, energy efficiency and safety and reliability.
After delivery, the PCTC will be leased to South Korea’s Glovis Corporation for operation, undertaking the export transportation of Hyundai Motor vehicles. This marks another international recognition of Guangzhou Shipyard International’s technical capabilities and project management skills in the field of car carrier construction.
