On July 24, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) held a steel cutting ceremony for the 7,800 CEU methanol dual-fuel powered pure car and track carrier (PCTC) “CMHI-294-01” at China Merchants Heavy Industries Haimen shipyard (CMHI Haimen shipyard) .
According to reports, following the two 9,300 CEU methanol dual-fuel powered PCTCs currently under construction, this PCTCs to be started construction this time will also be equipped with the latest methanol dual-fuel main engines and auxiliary engines, meeting the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III emission standards.
This PCTC leads the industry in terms of energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, and safety and comfort. Additionally, the PCTC will obtain the CCS cybersecurity classification notation, establishing a new industry benchmark that combines green, low-carbon, and intelligent efficiency.
At the same time, the PCTC is also the first of four 7,800 CEU methanol dual-fuel PCTCs ordered by CMES and China Merchants Industry in 2023. The smooth commencement of this PCTC is another important practice by China Merchants Group’s shipping division to leverage internal synergies, implement its “dual carbon” strategy, and promote the green transformation of the shipping industry.
