On July 10, China Merchants Industry Jinling Shipyard held a ship delivery and naming ceremony for the 62,000 DWT Handymax multi-purpose vessel built for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES). The vessel was named “PACIFIC PURITY”.
It is the second of the four 62,000 DWT Handymax multi-purpose vessels signed by the two parties in 2023. It is a new generation of energy-saving and environmentally friendly vessels.
The “PACIFIC PURITY” series of 62,000 DWT Handymax multi-purpose vessels was designed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) and classified by the China Classification Society (CCS).
The vessel measures 199.9 meters in length, 32.26 meters in beam, and 19.0 meters in draft, with a design speed of 14.4 knots. It features a CFD-optimized hull design and is equipped with five cargo holds. The port side is fitted with four cranes, three of which have a single lifting capacity of 150 tons.
The vessel is equipped with energy-efficient and environmentally friendly equipment such as large-diameter propellers, meeting the international standards of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) PHASE 3 series. The vessel is installed with an energy efficiency management system developed by China Merchants Industry, and will subsequently be equipped with the IMP management system pioneered by CMES, making it the latest generation of green, environmentally friendly, economical, and energy-efficient multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels.
