Sanfu Shipbuilding Cut Steel for 14,000 DWT Multi-Purpose Vessel for German Owner

On July 4, 2025, Sanfu Shipbuilding held a steel cutting ceremony for the SF230205, a 14,000 DWT multi-purpose vessel being built for a German shipowner, at its steel processing workshop. Representatives from the shipowner, Classification Society DNV, and Sanfu Shipbuilding attended the ceremony.

Classified by DNV, the vessel has a total length of 159.75 meters, a length between perpendiculars of 152.75 meters, a beam of 22.80 meters, a draft of 11.55 meters, a structural draft of 8.30 meters and a speed of approximately 15.5 knots.

The vessel is equipped with two 350-ton cranes, with a combined crane weight of 700 tons. It is designed with two cargo holds, the larger of which is 89.25 meters long and has three second decks. The cargo is suitable for a wide range of loading, and can carry extra-long equipment or equipment such as wind power.

This series of 14000DWT multi-purpose vessels was jointly designed and developed by Sanfu Shipbuilding and Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI). It has been comprehensively optimized and upgraded based on the original mature 12500DWT multi-purpose vessel type, with significant improvements in cargo capacity, lifting capacity, fuel economy, performance and intelligence.

The commencement of construction marks another breakthrough for Sanfu Shipbuilding in the field of multi-purpose vessel construction, demonstrating the company’s strong technical competitiveness in the multi-purpose vessel market.
