On July 21, Titan Wind Energy (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Titan Wind Energy”) announced that a subsidiary of a renowned international shipowner had recently placed an order with a wholly-owned subsidiary of Titan Wind Energy’s offshore engineering division for two firm and two optional 113,800 DWT crude oil tankers. The total contract value is approximately RMB 1.874 billion (equivalent to about US$277 million).
The announcement discloses that the total contract value for the two firm vessels is approximately RMB 937 million (about US$138 million), while the other two vessels are subject to an option held by the buyer (granting the shipowner the right to decide whether to proceed with construction at an agreed price within 30 days of contract signing). These vessels have an overall length of approximately 248.8 meters, a molded breadth of about 44 meters, and a molded depth of approximately 21.50 meters, with staggered deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2029.
Titan Wind Energy notes that crude oil tankers, FPSOs, and FSOs all fall under the category of offshore energy equipment, with a client base comprising global oil and gas vessel owners and international shipping capital. This contract signing signifies further international recognition of the company’s shipbuilding capabilities; following its work on FPSOs and FSOs, this marks the first time the company has undertaken the construction of another mainstream, core vessel type in the high-end offshore sector, thereby further refining its dual-core offshore business strategy of “offshore wind power equipment + oil and gas vessels.”
On the same day the tanker order was announced, a steel-cutting ceremony was held at Titan Wind Energy’s Nantong base for the “SEPAT FPSO” (the third vessel under construction), marking the project’s official transition into the physical construction phase.
