On June 28, Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding under Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group delivered the seventh LNG dual-fuel 16,000 TEU container ship “MSC ALESSIA” to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). The vessel then unmoored from the shipyard dock and put into operation.
“MSC ALESSIA” is the seventh in a series of 12 16,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for shipowner MSC.
Like its sixth sister ship in the series, the MSC ALESSIA is equipped with a wind deflector device that effectively reduces wind resistance during navigation, thereby reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions, contributing to the further greening and efficiency of ship operations.
The ship commenced construction in mid-May 2024, laid keel for block integration at the end of October, launched in mid-March 2025, and successfully completed sea trials in mid-June 2025 with all test results met the design standards.
It is reported that on June 26, both parties signed the ship delivery documents.
