On November 2, Guangzhou Shipyard International successfully kicked off construction of the third 10,800 CEU dual-fuel PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carrier) being built for Hyundai Glovis.

The 10800 CEU dual-fuel PCTC represents a leading class of eco-friendly roll-on/roll-off vessels in terms of global carrying capacity. Commissioned by the shipping company Hyundai Glovis, the vessel will be deployed for the long-haul ocean transport of automobiles worldwide upon completion.
Developed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), the vessel is 230 meters long, 40 meters wide, and has a structural draft of 10.5 meters. It is powered by an LNG/fuel oil dual-fuel propulsion system.
Additionally, the vessel is equipped with shaft generators and a solar photovoltaic power generation system, balancing environmental protection with operational efficiency while meeting the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emissions standards. The vessel’s 14-deck automotive deck design (including 5 movable decks) allows for flexible loading of diverse cargo, such as electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks. The maximum vehicle capacity per ship reaches 10,800 units, which, if lined up end-to-end, would stretch over 50 kilometers.
Furthermore, the vessel is equipped with 16 sets of hydraulically powered movable ramps and two levels of hydraulically movable decks, which have significantly improved loading efficiency and stability, making it well-suited to meet the demands of the global automotive trade.
