On June 10, CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International started construction of the first 10,800 CEU LNG dual-fuel pure car and track carrier (PCTC) for Korea Ocean Business Corp. It is the third 10,800 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC built by Guangzhou Shipyard International, and is also one of the world’s largest dual-fuel PCTCs.
This type of PCTC was jointly developed by Guangzhou Shipyard International and Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) . It is an LNG/fuel dual-fuel PCTC, classed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Korean Register (KR), and can sail in unlimited areas around the world.
The PCTC is 230 meters long, 40 meters wide, 15.6 meters deep, with a designed draft of 9.1 meters, a maximum draft of 10.5 meters and a speed of 19 knots. It uses dual fuel power of oil and natural gas to meet the IMOTIER Ⅲ NOx emission requirements. The natural gas capacity onboard can meet the needs of the entire voyage.
The vessel is equipped with a total of 14 car decks, including 9 fixed decks and 5 movable decks. The vessel is capable of transporting passenger cars, vans, trailers loaded with freight containers, heavy-duty trucks, and other vehicle types, as well as certain dangerous goods packaged in accordance with the IMDG Code. It is equipped with an LNG/fuel dual-fuel propulsion system, meeting Tier III NOx emission standards, and achieving a reduction in carbon emissions of over 30% compared to traditional fuel-powered vessels.
