Recently, during the 2025–Nor-Shipping 2025, Wuhu Shipyard officially signed a green energy ship R&D cooperation agreement with Tamm Media GmbH for the European market, marking a key step forward for the century-old Wuhu Shipyard in deepening international cooperation and expanding its global green shipping footprint.
This cooperation not only promotes China’s advanced green shipbuilding technology to the European market, but also represents an important step in actively integrating and absorbing overseas market resources and advanced experience.
Based on its deep insight into the European market, Wuhu Shipyard will fully leverage the core strengths of its subsidiary, Tri-Water New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., in the fields of new energy propulsion systems (electric and hydrogen) and intelligent ship technology to engage in in-depth cooperation with European shipping companies. The two parties will focus on the following key areas:
Green Power R&D: Jointly develop new energy drive systems and energy-saving and emission-reduction solutions suitable for European inland waterway scenarios.
Ship Design Optimization and Innovation: Conduct efficient and environmentally friendly ship design optimization tailored to specific waterways and operational requirements.
Localization and Demonstration: Explore the implementation and operation of demonstration projects, promote localized manufacturing and supporting supply chain construction, and absorb advanced European experience in operational management, environmental protection standards, and other areas.
This marks the systematic entry of China’s high-end green shipbuilding technology into the European market, and is also an important milestone in building a mutually beneficial international green shipping cooperation ecosystem through the integration of “technology + market + resources.”
This strategic partnership is a key step for Wuhu Shipyard to actively integrate into the global green shipping industry chain and expand its high-end “marine network.” Through strong collaboration and complementary advantages, it directly supports the green and modernization upgrade of European inland river fleets, accelerates the large-scale application of clean energy in traditional inland waterway transportation, and contributes a “Chinese solution” to the low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry.
While integrating advanced overseas concepts and market resources, Wuhu Shipyard is working with international partners to jointly chart a new blueprint for the sustainable development of green shipping between China and Europe.
