On October 23rd, China Merchants Industry Haimen Base held a grand ceremony for the commencement of the construction project of 180,000 cbm LNG carriers.
It is reported that LNG carriers are specialized in transporting liquefied natural gas at minus 163 degrees Celsius. This ship type is internationally recognized as a high-tech, high-difficulty, high-value-added ship, and together with aircraft carriers and luxury cruise ships, it is regarded as the “crown jewel” of the shipbuilding industry. China Merchants Industry Holdings Co., Ltd. is the enterprise with the largest number of modifications and installations of large-scale LNG carriers in China, and its Haimen shipyard successfully built and delivered the world’s first LNT A-box 45, 000 cbm LNG carrier in 2019, which has strong design and construction capabilities.
The total length of the vessel is 298.8 meters, form width 48 meters, form depth 26.7 meters, deck area equivalent to three soccer fields, cargo hold volume 180,000 cubic meters. It is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025.
