Fugro Secures $340M Petrobras Contracts for Subsea Infrastructure Monitoring

Dutch contractor Fugro has announced that it has been awarded four multi-year contracts by Petrobras to inspect and monitor critical subsea infrastructure in Brazilian waters, with a total value of approximately $340 million.

Specifically, the four contracts will be executed via four dedicated vessels, two of which will be operated directly by Fugro and two by strategic partners. All vessels will be equipped with Fugro’s advanced Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) for comprehensive and precise inspection and monitoring of subsea assets. The contracts are expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will last for four years, with the option of an additional year.

Fugro stated that these contracts will expand its remote operating capabilities, including remote control of ROVs. The technology was first successfully deployed in Brazil in 2023 by the Fugro Aquarius in collaboration with Petrobras. The technology transfers personnel from the field to an office environment, enabling real-time data analysis to accelerate decision-making while improving efficiency.
