On May 11, the construction of Wanbang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (Zhoushan)’s Future Ship Green Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Demonstration Base project was fully started, marking a milestone in the construction of a new concept and model for the world’s first green and intelligent ship repair company. It will completely subvert the traditional ship maintenance model, establish new standards and demonstration models for the global green and intelligent ship repair industry, and open up a new era of AI operation and management of ship maintenance solutions throughout the life cycle.
It is understood that this project is one of Zhejiang Province’s “Thousand Projects and Trillion-Dollar” projects in 2025. The total land area of the project is about 176 mu, with a planned total investment of RMB 1 billion.
According to the official website, Wanbang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) is a ship repairing enterprise belonging to Wanbang Digital Energy Pte Ltd, which was built in July 2003 and put into production in January 2006, and now has two dry docks and a 774-meter-long wharf.
The company is located in Zhoushan Mazhi Island, Zhejiang Province, covering an area of 500,000 square meters, with a coastline of about 1,900 meters long and a water depth of more than 20 meters; adjacent to the Shanghai Yangshan Deepwater Port, and only two days’ voyage from South Korea and Japan, the regional location and port conditions are very superior, with convenient transportation and smooth access to land and water, making it an ideal place to engage in ship repair activities.
