CMJL (Weihai) Names Sixth LNG Dual-Fuel PCTC for EPS

On May 7, China Merchants Jingling Shipyard (Weihai) Co. Ltd. (“CMJL (Weihai)”) held a naming ceremony for the sixth 7,000 CEU dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier) built for Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), and the new vessel was named “LAKE VICTORIA”.

It is understood that “LAKE VICTORIA” is 199.9 meters long, 38 meters wide, with a designed draft of 8.6 meters and a speed of 19 knots. The PCTC is equipped with 12 car decks, which can carry 7,000 family cars. The car decks are divided into fixed and movable types, which greatly improves the efficiency of cargo loading and unloading and the economic benefits of vessel’s operation.

In terms of environmental protection, the PCTC is equipped with an advanced high-pressure dual-fuel system, two 2,000 m³ LNG storage tanks, as well as a hybrid propulsion system of shaft generator and lithium battery, and adopts a number of environmentally friendly technologies. Therefore, it can significantly reduce the emissions of SOx, particulate matter and carbon, and meet the TIER III emission standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), with the advantages of economy, energy saving, environmental protection and high efficiency.

It is worth mentioning that since 2023, CMJL (Weihai) has delivered five 7,000 CEU dual-fuel PCTCs for EPS, and the sixth vessel named this time is about to be delivered, marking the successful conclusion of the construction of this series of dual-fuel PCTCs soon.
