HD Hyundai Samho Receives Order for 2 Suezmax Tankers

On May 7, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding business, announced that it has signed a contract with an African shipping company to build two 157,000 DWT Suezmax tankers. The total order value is US$179.2 million, and the cost of each vessel is US$89.6 million.

The new vessels will be built by HD Hyundai Samho and are expected to be delivered in the first half of 2027. Industry sources reported that the order comes from Greek owner Evalend Shipping.

Together with the latest order, HD KSOE has received orders for 53 new vessels valued at approximately US$6.49 billion this year, achieving approximately 35.9% of its annual order target of US$18.05 billion.

By ship type, there are 1 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, 4 LNG bunkering vessels, 6 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)/ammonia carriers, 2 ethane carriers, 34 container ships and 6 tankers.
