On April 18, Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering held a steel cutting ceremony for the first of eight 38,000DWT duplex stainless steel chemical tankers ordered by NYK Stolt Tankers.

The 38,000DWT duplex stainless steel chemical tanker has an overall length of 184.9 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters and a depth of 16 meters. It has 30 independent cargo tanks with a capacity of 43,500 cubic meters, and adopts one-tank-one-pump design, which provides excellent storage performance and high flexibility.

At the same time, the vessel is designed to reduce consumption and emissions. It is equipped with low-voltage and high-voltage shore power connection equipment to maximize fuel efficiency, and reserves space for upgrading and transforming methanol fuel and UPS power battery packs. It can meet the International Maritime Organization’s Tier-III emission requirements and take into account safety, economy, environmental protection and comfort.
