On October 16th, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. built the world’s first direct 700TEU pure battery-powered container ship “N997” to start the trial voyage.
It is reported that the ship research, design and construction by Chinese ship enterprises independently , with independent intellectual property rights, its installed battery capacity for the world’s largest, navigation throughout the successful realization of “zero emissions, zero pollution, zero noise”.
With an overall length of 119.8 meters and a beam of 23.6 meters, the vessel is powered by a box-type mobile power supply, and adopts battery-powered propulsion for the whole voyage, with a preset battery capacity much higher than that of the existing international/domestic ship types. The ship takes a leading position in the world in terms of the number of boxes, deadweight tons and battery capacity of purely electric container ships.
