Hudong-Zhonghua Deliverd new W-MAX Class LNG Carrier “LAGENDA SETIA”

The newly-built W-Max class liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier “LAGENDA SETIA” for Petronas LNG Ltd. was delivered at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd.

“LAGENDA SETIA” features a length of 239 meters and a width of 36.6 meters and run on an X-DF dual-fuel engine which uses gas admitted at low pressure. This vessel features the shallowest design draft among the LNG vessels of the same class in the world and has excellent seakeeping capability. Equipped with double stern fin propulsion system, it has excellent fast performance, good maneuverability, high safety and reliability; with double main engine and double propeller propulsion and double rudder system maneuverability, it has the strongest navigational capability among the same class of LNG carriers in the world. With highly flexible transshipment compatibility, it can realize liquid cargo transshipment between a wide range of vessel types from 30,000 cbm meters LNG vessels to 174,000 cbm LNG vessels, providing customers with ideal and diversified liquid cargo transportation and distribution solutions.

This is the third in a series of Petronas 80,000 cbm LNG carriers, the first two were delivered in May and June 2022, respectively, as sister vessels, LAGENDA SURIA and LAGENDA SERENITY. “Lagenda” is a Malay word for “legend” and “Setia” is for “loyalty”. “Lagenda” which is also used as the name of the sister vessels represent loyalty and dedication of the LNG-supplying vessel, as well as the long-term relationship with charterers.

Together with two sister vessels, she will engage in transportation of LNG from Malaysia (Bintulu) to China (Shanghai) for Shenergy (Group) Co., Ltd.
