NHT secures another order for bulk carriers from Oldendorff

Germany’s Oldendorff Carriers has further expanded its newbuilding order book by ordering more Kamsarmax bulk carriers, according to Trade Winds.

This German bulk carrier giant has returned to Jiangsu New Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co., Ltd (NHT) with an order for two 82,000 dwt bulk carriers, bringing its total order book at this shipyard to 12 units.

Shipbrokers said Oldendorff Carriers had signed contracts to build up to six bulk carriers, but the shipowner revealed that it had only ordered two.

Clarkson Shipping Intelligence Network shows that Oldendorff had previously ordered 10 Kamsarmax vessels from NHT, nine of which were ordered last year and one in 2021.

NHT plans to deliver the bulk carrier Kaya Oldendorff in May, four in 2025 and the remaining five in 2026.

As for the latest order for the two bulk carriers, shipbuilding sources said delivery is also expected in 2026.
