NACKS Delivers 24,188 TEU Container Ship ‘OOCL Valencia’

On January 5th, 24,188 TEU container ship “Orient Valencia” was successfully delivered. This vessel is the fourth one of the six vessels of the same type built by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co, Ltd.(NACKS) for Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL), and will serve OOCL’s Asia-Europe LL1 route.

It is understood that the 24,188 TEU ultra-large container ship has a length of 399.99 meters, a width of 61.3 meters, a depth of 33.2 meters, and a deadweight of 228,000 tons. The deck area is bigger than 3 standard soccer fields, and when fully loaded, it can reach the height of 22 layers of ordinary houses, which is the largest size in the world at present, and the super giant ship with the largest amount of heavy container loading, and it is called “sea castle”.

The research and development of the ship incorporates the latest technological achievements and intelligent means. By optimizing the low resistance line shape of the hull, carrying the ship’s intelligent energy efficiency management and safety management system, designing and applying the large permanent magnet axle generator, high efficiency energy-saving system and extremely thick high-strength crack stopping steel, the ship achieves the technological advantages of safety, energy-saving, environmental protection, large container capacity, high degree of intelligence, and the comprehensive performance reaches the international advanced level.
