On December 22nd, Ningbo Wanyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. signed a design contract of 2 x 3300 TEU container ships for domestic trade–SEALION D3300 with Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI).
It is understood that SEALION D3300 is a domestic trade container ship designed by SDARI based on its rich experience in container ship design and according to the new specification rules. This ship type meets the latest T3 emission requirements of main engine and C2 emission requirements of auxiliary engine, and has the advantages of safety, high efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection, and the EEDI meets the requirements of three stages.
The ship significantly reduces fuel consumption through excellent line design, saving about 20.8% of fuel consumption compared with similar ships in the market, and improves the ship’s wave resistance and maneuverability in bad sea conditions. And SDARI has improved the capacity through structural design of the ship and lightweighting research in all disciplines.
This series of vessels commenced construction in March 2024.
