CIMC SOE Delivers SPP40 Platform Supply Vessel and 24,000 cbm LEG Carrier

On September 28–29, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) delivered the SPP40 platform supply vessel (PSV) built for CDB Financial Leasing and SPEC, as well as the 24,000 cbm LEG carrier built for the UK-based company Petredec.

The SPP40 platform supply vessel S1098 was successfully delivered on September 28.

The S1098 is the fourth vessel in the SPP40 series of offshore platform supply vessels. It has an overall length of 81.75 meters, a beam of 17.40 meters, a depth of 7.8 meters, and a design draft of 6.3 meters; it has a deadweight of 4,000 tons and is classed by Bureau Veritas (BV).

The vessel utilizes a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system and is equipped with two tunnel bow thrusters and two azimuth thrusters. It features an unmanned engine room and capabilities for seven-day zero-emission operations, DP2 dynamic positioning, Class 1 external fire-fighting, and offshore oil spill cleanup; it also meets Level 3 standards for vibration and noise comfort. With an 800-square-meter deck capable of flexibly transporting various supplies—including methanol, fresh water, fuel, cement, drilling mud, drilling water, and general deck cargo—it is a multi-functional offshore support vessel that combines cutting-edge technology with practical utility.

A 24,000 cbm LEG carrier was successfully delivered on September 29.

S1108 is the second 24,000 cbm LEG carrier built by CIMC SOE for the UK-based company Petredec; the vessel was independently developed and designed by CIMC SOE. Classified by BV, it features a Type C bilobe tank structure and adheres to rigorous standards regarding the cargo containment system, cargo handling, and overall safety performance.

By optimizing the hull line and layout, the vessel enhances effective cargo capacity while balancing operational efficiency and transport capability. Furthermore, thanks to superior construction craftsmanship and an optimized hull design, the vessel demonstrates excellent measured performance; its actual speed exceeds the design speed by one knot, further boosting operational efficiency.

In terms of the propulsion system, the vessel is equipped with a high-performance main engine and innovatively integrates advanced eco-friendly equipment—such as scrubbers and shaft generators—to significantly lower pollutant emissions while effectively reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption, fully aligning with the global shipping industry’s trend toward green, low-carbon, energy-efficient, and high-efficiency development.
