Italian contractor Rosetti Marino has been awarded a contract worth between €250 million and €300 million by INEOS E&P A/S for a platform on the Hejre Development in the Danish North Sea.
Under the contract, the Ravenna-based group will be responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, load-out, transport and installation (EPCI) of the platform. Rosetti Marino said the project is technically complex, with the reservoir operating at pressures of 759 barg and temperatures of 170°C, and described Hejre as one of Europe’s most important energy security projects.
Oscar Guerra, chief executive of Rosetti Marino, said: “With this award, Rosetti Marino confirms its commitment and competitiveness in European offshore, particularly in highly technical infrastructure.”
Preliminary work has already started, with activities expected to continue until completion in 2028.
The Hejre project is a complex high-temperature, high-pressure oil and gas development located in the Danish sector of the North Sea, at a water depth of 5 to 6 kilometers; its estimated reserves are approximately 170 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Due to estimates of carbon emissions over the project’s entire lifecycle, the project faced strong opposition and legal challenges from environmental groups such as Greenpeace; at the same time, because the environmental impact assessment failed to account for downstream climate impacts, the Danish Energy Appeals Board revoked the project’s existing permit in 2025, forcing a delay. Following an environmental review, the Danish Energy Agency formally reapproved the revised development plan in May 2026.
