Recently, South Korean subsea cable contractor LS Marine Solution announced that it has signed an offshore engineering contract with Hanwha Ocean for the Shinan Ui offshore wind power project. The contract is valued at 156.9 billion won ($113 million), representing 64.2% of the company’s most recent annual sales and marking the largest order in LS Marine Solution’s history.
LS Marine Solution was reportedly selected as the preferred bidder for the Shinan Ui project in July 2025, although specific details of the project were not disclosed at the time. Located off the coast of Ui Island in South Jeolla Province, the project has an installed capacity of 390 MW and marks the first phase of the planned 8.2 GW Shinan offshore wind power complex in South Korea.
Under the contract, LS Marine Solution’s scope of work includes the transportation, laying, and burial of submarine cables for the Shinan Ui project, with the project period running from September 17, 2026, to September 6, 2028.
LS Marine Solution, a subsidiary of the LS Cable & System Group, is currently expanding its fleet. In June 2025, the company signed a contract with Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard for the construction of a 13,000 DWT cable-laying vessel (CLV) at a cost of approximately $252 million; the vessel is expected to be delivered and put into service in the first half of 2028.
LS Marine Solution continues to expand its presence in the offshore engineering sector. Previously, LS Marine Solution undertook a subsea cable laying project in Taiwan, China; in 2025, it secured the 532-megawatt Anma offshore wind power project in South Korea, with a contract value of 94 billion won.
