On September 21, Jiangsu Soho Innovation & Technology Group and Germany’s Dassler Anlage-und Beteiligungs-GmbH Group held a signing ceremony for a contract to build 2+1 64,500 DWT bulk carriers.
Jiangsu Soho Innovation & Technology stated that the 64,500 DWT bulk carrier is an upgraded version of the 63,500 DWT bulk carrier. The vessel has a length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, a depth of 18.9 meters, a structural draft of 13.5 meters, a service speed of 13.5 knots, and a maximum range of 20,000 nautical miles.
This vessel type has been comprehensively optimized in terms of environmental sustainability, low-carbon operation, intelligence, and efficiency, aligning closely with the global shipping industry’s demands for carbon reduction and digitalization. It is a highly competitive mainstream ship type in the international market.
The German DAB Group has been deeply involved in the maritime sector for nearly 40 years, with business operations spanning maritime consulting, shipping services, and more. One of its subsidiaries specializes in ship repair and serves as the exclusive repair service provider for the German Navy. The recently contracted 2+1 64,500-metric-ton bulk carriers will constitute the DAB Group’s first wholly-owned fleet, marking a significant step forward in its ship asset portfolio.
Since its reorganization in 2024, Jiangsu Soho Innovation & Technology has secured a total of 60 shipbuilding orders and successfully delivered more than ten vessels for its own fleet. This contract marks not only the shipyard’s first order for this type of vessel but also a significant milestone in its expansion into the high-end European maritime market, demonstrating Jiangsu Soho Innovation & Technology’s comprehensive competitiveness in the global shipbuilding industry.
