On September 1, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), officially signed a contract with the renowned German shipowner Peter Döhle to build two large 14,000 TEU container ships. This move further deepens and solidifies the strategic partnership between the parties, underscoring the strong appeal of this leading shipyard in the high-end container ship market.
This vessel is equipped with the world’s first WinGD 6X92-1.1 main engine featuring “methanol-ready” capability and an integrated permanent magnet shaft generator; this configuration significantly boosts energy efficiency, delivering outstanding operational performance characterized by low energy consumption and high cargo capacity. Furthermore, the vessel incorporates a dual-ready design for methanol and ammonia—two key future green fuels—enabling seamless adaptation to clean, low-carbon energy sources and aligning perfectly with the shipping industry’s trend toward green development.
Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, Peter Döhle is a renowned and highly respected shipowner in the shipping industry. In June 2024, the company placed an order with Hudong-Zhonghua for four large, 14,000 TEU container ships designed to be methanol-ready. With this latest order for two additional vessels, Peter Döhle’s total orderbook with Hudong-Zhonghua has reached six ships.
