Huangpu Wenchong Delivers Final 82,300 DWT Multi-Purpose Vessel to Grieg Maritime

CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding recently delivered the “Star Nanga”—the last of four 82,300 DWT multi-purpose vessels built for Norway’s Grieg Maritime Group—three months ahead of schedule, successfully concluding the series.

Huangpu Wenchong signed a contract with Grieg Maritime Group in 2023 for the construction of a series of four vessels; the first vessel, “Star Norge”, was named and delivered this January.

This vessel was designed by the Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC). Measuring 225 meters in length and 36 meters in width, it boasts a maximum tandem lifting capacity of 240 tonnes, enabling the transport of heavy-lift and oversized cargo with exceptional versatility.

Designed to be “ammonia-ready” and compliant with Tier III emission standards, the vessel features outstanding maneuverability and superior environmental performance. The crane and hatch cover systems represent the highest specifications globally for this class of vessel, reflecting the project’s significant construction challenges and high level of complexity.
