On July 2, Yangfan Group signed a shipbuilding contract with Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding. The two parties will jointly build two eco-friendly, smart Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs)—each with a capacity of 5,700 vehicles—collaborating to deepen their presence in the high-end Ro-Ro (roll-on/roll-off) vessel market and support the global shipping industry’s low-carbon transition.
The partnership between Yangfan Group and Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding dates back to September 2025, when they collaborated on a project involving eight 4,800 TEU container ships. This latest project marks an expansion of their cooperation from container ships to car carriers, further broadening the scope of their partnership.
Notably, this is the first time Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding has undertaken the construction of car carriers since completing its restructuring in July 2024 under the leadership of DCL Investments.

This PCTC was independently developed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) and is classed by the China Classification Society (CCS). The vessel has an overall length of 190.00 meters, a beam of 35.60 meters, and a structural draft of 9.50 meters, corresponding to a deadweight of 13,500 tonnes. It features 11 vehicle decks (including three hoistable decks) with a total deck area of 48,200 square meters and a rated capacity of 5,700 standard vehicles.
The vessel is powered by a new-generation Everllence B&W 6S50ME-C10.7-DI-EcoEGR main engine, delivering a maximum continuous power of 11,400 kW and an operating range of 12,900 nautical miles. It complies with the strictest NOx Tier III emission standards, positioning it as a benchmark vessel for low-carbon, deep-sea Ro-Ro transport.
Other major newbuilding contracts recently secured by Yangfan Group include: On May 27, it signed a 2+2 newbuilding contract for 2,700 TEU container vessels with Baozhou (Hong Kong) Shipping, with the actual construction contracts executed by Zhejiang Tenglong Shipbuilding and Zhejiang East Coast Shipbuilding. On June 12, it formally inked a 4+2 newbuilding deal for 64,500 DWT bulk carriers with Zhejiang Yonghang Shipping.
Prior to the announcement of the order for two 5,700 CUE PCTCs, all other new shipbuilding projects publicly disclosed by Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding this year were container ships; the shipowners involved include Shanghai Changshun Shipping, Hainan Sikanrui Shipping, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), and Greece’s Conbulk.
Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding is a reactivated shipyard established in June 2005 and restructured by DCL Investments in July 2024. With an annual production capacity of 2 million deadweight tons, the shipyard focuses on shipbuilding, ship repair, and high-end equipment manufacturing, prioritizing the development of LNG-powered vessels and dual-fuel container ships, while also undertaking projects for bulk carriers, oil tankers, and special-purpose vessels.
