Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group (“WS”) successfully delivered the second 25,900 DWT stainless-steel chemical tanker to SC Shipping (Shanghai) on June 30. The vessel was named “SC EPIDOTE” and handed over to Junzheng Shipping for operation. WS had previously delivered the “SC DIAMOND” to SC Shipping (Shanghai).

The “SC EPIDOTE” is the second vessel in a series of 25,900-metric-metric-ton stainless-steel chemical tankers built by WS for SC Shipping (Shanghai). Designed primarily by Shanghai Odely Marine, this vessel type has become a “viral hit” in China’s chemical shipping market, combining environmental sustainability, smart technology, and high efficiency.
The vessel is designed with provisions for a methanol fuel upgrade, meets Phase 3 EEDI requirements, and complies with IMO Tier III emission standards, making it perfectly aligned with the global trend toward low-carbon shipping.
The vessel integrates intelligent energy efficiency management, smart navigation, engine room and cargo tank monitoring, and behavior recognition systems, using big data to optimize navigation and energy consumption in real time. In addition, it is equipped with 22 single-compartment, single-pipe cargo holds with a total capacity of 29,500 cubic meters, enabling it to simultaneously transport more than 20 types of high-end chemicals, thereby significantly enhancing operational flexibility and economic value.
SC Shipping (Shanghai) states that its new generation of 25,900 DWT stainless-steel chemical tankers—distinguished by superior seaworthiness and cost-efficiency—has become a cornerstone for connecting the company to core global routes and building a fleet that integrates domestic and international trade. Since entering service, the lead vessel of this series has performed excellently and garnered positive market feedback, fully validating the advanced design and high construction quality of the vessel type.
