On June 15, CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC), named and delivered the “Elandra Kite,” the first 115,000 DWT product tanker built for Vitor International Shipping, 15 days ahead of the contract deadline.
CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding stated that the delivered vessel has an overall length of 249.8 meters, a beam of 44 meters, a draft of 21.2 meters, a structural draft of 15.25 meters, a deadweight tonnage of 115,000 tons, a service speed of 14.50 knots, and a range of 22,000 nautical miles. The vessel is capable of carrying three types of oil simultaneously, is certified for worldwide operation, complies with the International Maritime Tier III emissions standards, and meets international advanced levels in terms of cargo capacity, speed, and fuel consumption.
The “Elandra Kite” is the third vessel in CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding’s series of 115,000 DWT product tankers and the first product tanker built in collaboration with Vitor International Shipping.
The overall construction efficiency of the vessel has been significantly improved, with a dock construction cycle of 90 days—6 days ahead of the previous vessel—and a key construction cycle of 234 days, 37 days shorter than that of the first vessel. The project adopted a full-process, forward-coordinated construction model, continuously optimizing processes for section prefabrication, block assembly, and integrated outfitting and installation.
Compared to previous vessels in the same series, this vessel features over a 30% improvement in outfitting completeness, significantly reducing the time spent in the dry dock. The project completed the structural integrity and watertightness acceptance tests for the special-coating compartments ahead of schedule while in the dry dock, taking only 56 days from pre-blasting to overall completion. It passed the joint acceptance inspection by the shipowner and a third-party auditor on the first attempt, earning special recognition for its construction techniques and quality.
